Smallmouth Bass Fishing
The formation of the Canadian Shield has created the perfect habitat for unbelievable populations of Smallmouth Bass on Lake of the Woods and Shoal Lake. Bass in the 3-pound range are common with many in the 4 to 6 pound fish being caught regularly.
Smallmouth Bass are easy to catch and can be found along almost all rocky points and shoals near our island. Top water action can be good throughout the season and crankbaits, jigs and almost every plastic bait works on them. Smallmouth Bass is the name of the game for lots of our guests as this area is known as one of the top locations for smallmouth bass on the entire waterbody. From the outposts pivotal location you can be fishing bass in the current at Ash Rapids or big water out on Shoal Lake within minutes. The clear water with numerous points with bass in every direction will keep you happy and fishing new water your whole week here.
Limited Season: June 1 to June 30 (Catch & Release Only) - November 30 to May 31 Two bass under 13.8 inches
Full Season: July 1 to November 30
Limit - Sport License: 4 in 1 day with only 4 in your possession
Limit - Conservation License: 2 in 1 day with only 2 in your possession
